Having always been interested in human psychology and user research, I focused on the target group of future retirees. Beyond options such as psychological support or meditation workshops, it is remarkably rare to find solutions truly designed to help anticipate retirement from a psychological perspective.


How can one best anticipate retirement to ease this life transition?Focus the project on the social dimension and its positive impact on lifestyle.

With the help of professionals, it was essential to establish the psychological stages of the transition to retirement in order to understand the target users’ needs and define the target group.

Two main friction points appear before and after the adaptation phase, highlighting the importance of anticipating challenges to ensure a smooth transition.

A field survey with Montrealers of all ages revealed key concerns and highlighted 50–60 year olds as the primary target group. Insights showed the importance of anticipating retirement early on the timeline to ensure a smoother transition. These insights then allowed me to establish typical user profiles.

KIWE is a digital companion in the form of an interactive journal, designed to support future retirees in their transition to this new life stage. Available as a mobile app, KIWE offers personalized content such as podcasts and articles, highlighted by the community, tailored to each user’s specific needs. Its goal is to ease the retirement transition by addressing psychological, social, and practical aspects, helping users build a positive and confident vision of the future while encouraging personal growth and new opportunities at this stage of life.
